Habits shape our identity

When we repeat a certain thing often enough, we start associating it as a part of our identity. You might start a habit because of motivation, but the only reason you’ll stick with one is that it becomes part of your identity.

It is one thing to say I'm a person WHO WANTS this and another thing to say I'm a person WHO IS this. When we believe that we have a certain identity, we're more likely to stick to the habits that come with it.

Thus, to change our identity we need to change our habits that define our identity in a certain way. By changing small habits one by one, we can gradually develop our identity to be more aligned with our goals.
