Buddhism

Buddhism is a spiritual philosophical tradition founded by Siddharth-Gautama, popularly known as the Buddha, in the 6th century BCE in India. It teaches a path to enlightenment through ethical living, mental discipline, spiritual wisdom and non-attachment.

At its core are the-four-noble-truths:

  1. Life involves suffering or dukkha
  2. Dukkha is caused by desire and attachment
  3. There is a way to end dukkha
  4. the-noble-8-fold-path leads to the end of dukkha

The Eightfold Path includes right view, intention, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration.

Buddhism emphasizes compassion, non-violence, and inner peace, encouraging followers to attain nirvana, the freedom from samsara, the cycle of birth and rebirth.

It spread across Asia and evolved into major branches like Theravāda, Mahāyāna, and Vajrayāna, each with unique interpretations but sharing core values of self-awareness and compassion.
